Cambodian Shareholder Appeals for Justice in Alleged Financial Misconduct Case
(Phnom Penh) – A shareholder of YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has submitted formal appeals to the Ministry of Justice of Cambodia, seeking intervention in a case against Yamada Taihei, the company’s Chairman, who is accused of serious financial misconduct and breach of trust.
According to the claims, Yamada Taihei, a Japanese national, allegedly abused his position to manipulate business transactions, inflate property prices, and misappropriate funds for personal gain. Preliminary reports indicate that approximately USD 4 million may have been diverted improperly.
The shareholder’s letters allege that Yamada Taihei made decisions without the consent of other shareholders, created fictitious business deals including loans exceeding USD 7 million, forged documents, and redirected large sums of money through multiple shell companies under his control. Part of the misappropriated funds was reportedly transferred to an overseas account in the name of his wife.
Investigations also suggest that he established several shell companies in Cambodia, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore, using nominees as official representatives while maintaining direct control over all financial operations.
In Cambodia, Yamada Taihei has already faced criminal charges in at least two cases, with courts freezing certain assets and bank accounts. Additional cases remain under investigation. Authorities in other countries, including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States, are also reportedly reviewing his financial activities in connection with embezzlement, money laundering, and document forgery.
The shareholder’s appeal emphasizes the need for thorough investigation and judicial oversight to ensure justice is served and to prevent any potential interference that could obstruct the process, intimidate witnesses, or compromise evidence.
The letters express hope that Cambodian courts will act decisively to hold the accused accountable and safeguard the rights of investors and shareholders.
